The day began with breakfast and a visit to the scenic and historic Fushimi district, which is also one of the brewing capitals of Japan.

What a relief to finally not be on the move! We continued our tour of Kyoto to our first stop in Higashiyama-ku.

Early in the morning, we were able to enjoy the lively city market in Takayama before heading to the World Heritage site.
